Cracking idea! What's the fit like between ball and tube? In a very similar vein an old bucket, some polythene and elastic can make a very effective Air Vortex Cannon, with the benefit that the projectile itself is made of air.
Thanks Jim. In the model shown in the video the fit is fairly loose — maybe a couple of mm spare. In a subsequent version I have a contact fit. Performance is a bit better with the snug fit but it varies quite a lot with the nuances of your stomp. Both seem to cause large amounts of fun.
now to attach a can of compressed air and a dump valve....
